The conflict in Ukraine is unfolding several institutional and political implications for the EU. Momentous policy measures have been already adopted in the fields of economic sanctions, military and humanitarian assistance. How the EU will manage the unprecedented challenges in terms of security, solidarity and energy posed by the current crisis will determine the kind of actor the EU becomes in the future. The EU is called upon to engage with NATO's renewed role, and to rethink the commitment with its neighbourhood. This event will reflect on what the EU needs to do to achieve long-term stability, taking into accounts the implications for its own reform agenda.
