ECLAC School of Latin American Development Studies
ECLAC School of Latin American Development Studies
application period for 2023 program: 15 February - 9 April
On-site course from July 13 to September; the United Nations regional organisation’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile
Applications can be made online from February 15 through April 9, 2023. The list of accepted applicants will be sent by email and posted on the ELADES website on April 14. Priority will be given to students who are currently studying or have recently completed graduate programs, especially in the areas of economics, social sciences, and humanities.
The Program’s structure contains six modules: introduction to development; sustainable development; political development; economic development; social development; and development ethics. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and students may spend the rest of the day in the Hernán Santa Cruz Library to work on their research.
Registration and course fees are waived. The classes, held mostly in Spanish, will be taught both by researchers on staff at ECLAC and prestigious professors from a variety of universities in Latin America and the Caribbean and other parts of the world.
Every year, ELADES-CEPAL brings together young researchers and undergraduate and/or graduate degree holders interested in studying the Latin American development process. More than 600 students from 35 countries and different universities around the world have attended the Program (previously a Summer School) since its creation in 2000.
It is a diverse space for thought that promotes discussion, reflection, and the creation and exchange of ideas on Latin American development, grounded in the specialised contributions of the various divisions of ECLAC and cutting-edge progress in academic research.
More information on requirements and the application process are available at the ELADES website.
