Admission Requirements

Students wishing to enrol in the Master's Degree Program in Area and Global Studies for International Cooperation must hold a Bachelor's Degree or a three-year university degree, or any other qualification obtained abroad that is recognized as equivalent in accordance with the legislation in force. Students must also fulfil the curricular requirements and the adequate personal preparation, since enrolment is not allowed in the case of a training deficit.
An adequate ability to use the main IT tools (word processing, use of spreadsheets, design and management of databases, use of presentation tools) is assumed.
The Master's Degree in Area and Global Studies for International Cooperation is not limited in number, but access is determined by the Course. Enrolment is only possible after passing an interview aimed at verifying the adequacy of the candidate’ personal preparation.
To apply for the Master's Program in Area and Global Studies for International Cooperation, candidates must have:
- adequate knowledge of English (CEFR B2 level or higher. Students can self-certify adequate knowledge of English by exhibiting a university English exam certificate equivalent to the level required);
- basic knowledge (CEFR A2 level or higher) of one of the other languages taught in the Master’s degree (French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Russian. Students can self-certify knowledge of the second language by exhibiting a university language exam certificate equivalent to the level required);
- foreign students are required to have a basic knowledge of the Italian language (A2 level or higher). Those who don’t have this level of Italian must take an Italian course for international students (or other courses outside the University of Turin);
- one of the following curricular requirements:
- Italian Degree in Political Science and International Relations (L-36 Class);
- Italian Degree in Peace Studies (L-37 Class);
- an Italian Bachelor's Degree, or a three-year university degree, or another qualification obtained abroad recognized as appropriate according to current legislation, provided that they have earned at least 18 Italian credits (or equivalent) in the following blocks of academic disciplines (candidates must have credits in 2 blocks at least):

If the applicant holds an Italian Master's Degree, the calculation of the curricular requirements is made on the basis of the credits obtained during the entire university career.
Candidates with Italian qualification who already possess the curricular requirements will be admitted to an interview (see How to apply) aimed at verifying the adequacy of the candidate’ personal preparation.
Candidates who possess the curricular requirements will be divided into two different streams.
- candidates who meet the following two criteria:
- possession of a minimum of 24 CFUs in at least 3 blocks of Academic Disciplines (SSD) among those listed at point 4);
- a degree grade of at least 99/110, or (for those who have not yet obtained their Bachelor's degree) a grade average of at least 26/30 in the examinations taken.
They will undergo an interview aimed at verifying their motivation to undertake the Master's Programme in Area and Global Studies for International Cooperation. - candidates who do not meet both the criteria mentioned in point a) will undergo an interview in which knowledge of a booklet prepared by the Master's Program lecturers and available in the "How to Apply" section will be tested.
The interview will also asses the candidate’s knowledge of English and the second language. The purpose of the interview, which is conducted by a member of the Selection Committee (composed by Prof. Barbera, Prof. Bignante, Prof. Bobbio, Prof. Gusman and Prof. Romanò), is to assess the candidate’s personal preparation in relation to the chosen profile, as well as the awareness of and motivation for the Master’s Program. The interview is conducted in English.
Candidates with foreign qualification can register only according to the procedures for international students established by the University. Applicants having the above-mentioned curricular requirements are admitted to an interview – in English – aimed at verifying their personal knowledge of English and second language (which in the case of international students can be Italian, too), and at discussing their general knowledge on the main themes of the course program and previous experience.
