Area specializationsArea specialization

Area specialization: the study of an area, and the study of the world from within and outside the area.

The Master's Degree in "Area Studies for International Cooperation" enables second-year students to focus on one three cultural and geographic areas - Africa, Americas, and Asia - and pursue a specialization.

The possibility to strengthen the AGIC degree with a multidisciplinary specialization in one of the three areas expressly designed to support students’ professional career, allows them to expand their knowledge of the chosen area’s cultures and peoples, thereby offering new opportunities in the field of international cooperation and, more in general, in the job market.

To earn an “Area” specialization, students must complete a framework of class types, with a minimum of 4 courses (24 credits), covering four different disciplinary fields among the five listed below.

Special topics and independent study courses may be applied with the approval of the AGIC Faculty. Students who complete courses through established study-abroad centers in an area country can apply for credit towards the area specialization, each request to be considered on a case-by-case basis by the AGIC Committee for study programs.
